Alison Whismore – British/American

Alison is a global citizen: born in Hong Kong to a British father and an American mother, she was then raised in the Philippines! She’s also lived in France, the US and now the UK.

She speaks American English, British English, French and what the Filipinos call “Taglish”.

After getting her BA Hons degree in Drama from the University of Manchester, she went on to get her Post Graduate diploma in Acting from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

Alison is a veteran theatre actor, having been performing since the age of 8.  She also toured on the road for over 22 years in North America, French-speaking Europe and the UK.  After touring that long, mostly in France, she and her husband actor took a leap of faith and moved to California.  After working as professional actors there, they made another leap of faith to move to the UK in 2022.

Having performed an eclectic range of characters in her career, it seemed only natural to move into Voiceover work!  She prides herself on the versatility of her voice in terms of accents, range and emotion.  She loves using her voice as an instrument: be that to embody a character or to speak truth in non-fiction narratives.

When Alison isn’t acting or doing voiceover work, she is a Business Communication Skills facilitator and coach, working in the corporate world.  Again, she is passionate about how actors’ skills transfer into daily life and how teaching others about voice, eye contact and body language can impact your audience.

She is the founder and sole voice coach at Sure Voices – where she trains business executives and others how to use their voices more effectively in online meetings.

She is also a seasoned drama teacher and workshop leader.

Alison lives in Hertfordshire, just 20 minutes from London.
