Antonio Zavatteri was born in Turin, Italy, and then in 1991, after four years of working as an employee in a big company, he quit his job and moved to Genoa to study acting at the Teatro Stabile di Genova, a prestigious drama school in Italy. He has been living in between Genoa and Rome for the past 25 years working for several national theatres, along with various directors: Benno Besson, Alfredo Arias, Luca Ronconi, Valerio Binasco, Matthias Langhoff.
After that he began to direct some plays: Molière’s Don Giovanni, Dealer’s Choice by Patrick Marber, Motortown by Simon Stephens, Thom Pain (based on nothing) by Will Eno, What’s in a name by Delaporte / de La Patellière.
In the last few years he became involved in more film and television work:
the Sky Atlantic TV shows 1992 and Stefano Sollima’s Gomorrah – The Series, on Netflix Sense8 directed by Lana Wachowsky;
He worked in Mia Madre by Nanni Moretti, Baciami Ancora by Gabriele Muccino, Io e Lei by Maria Sole Tognazzi, Un Giorno Speciale by Francesca Comencini and Zoolander 2 with Ben Stiller.
He featured in Benedetta Follia (film directed by Carlo Verdone), The Miracle, a Sky Atlantic TV series by Niccolò Ammaniti, and he’s Inspector Giordano in Trust, a FX Network production directed by Danny Boyle.
Recently he’s been cast in Medici: The Magnificent and Devils, an international television drama series set in London, directed by Nick Hurran which stars Patrick Dempsey.
