Claire Calverley – British (Northern)

Claire is a British actor who was born and bred in Huddersfield; she is now based in England’s westcountry. Claire has a Drama degree from Middlesex University and has trained with The Acting Masters online with Derek Barr since 2024.  Notably, she’s appeared on television as Rosetta in Daddy Issues on BBC iPlayer and Mrs Soper in ITVs Doc Martin. An experienced screen actor who has appeared in numerous films in recent years, you can catch her in the award-winning climate emergency film ‘Direct Action’ and in the upcoming indie horror, ‘The Medusa Box’ due for release in 2026. Claire is also a popular and busy voiceover artist: she’s the voice of Yeta the gangster in ‘Buba’ on Netflix, Microsoft Government software and  can be heard on Daljit Nagra’s show ‘Xanadu’ on BBC Radio 4. Claire has narrated numerous audiobook titles for Audible and Bolinda.

Prior to becoming an actor, Claire gained a PGCE in Drama from Exeter University and worked as a head of drama in a secondary state school. She still works as a supply teacher in between acting jobs and is a sessional university communication skills lecturer.

During the pandemic and with support from Arts Council England and the Theatre Royal, Claire wrote and performed ‘GoldCrest?’ a one-woman show exploring how birdwatching can improve menopausal women’s mental health. Claire’s screenplay of the show is currently in development. She’s produced and written award-winning feminist theatre with the ‘Riot of the Freelance Mind’ collective, touring to festivals and rural touring venues.  Claire has also been speaking French for over 30 years and has lived and worked in France as a performer and theatre workshop leader.
