Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Laurence is an American-French dual national with French and Italian parentage; though her mother tongue is American English, she is fluent in both French and Italian, and has worked in a number of other languages. A linguistics graduate from Harvard University, Laurence came to London to train at LAMDA and made her professional debut creating the role of Maria Elena Holly in the original cast of the West End musical, Buddy. Since then she has appeared in a variety of leading roles in Britain, and will shortly be seen as Sister Cecile Jabon in the soon-to-be released Entebbe for Working Title, directed by Jose Padilha. A prolific voice artist, Laurence has recorded a number of cartoon series including the title role in the highly successful Robotboy for Cartoon Network; ads, including the long-running Dolmio campaign in the UK and Tresemme in the US; radio plays, including Lana Turner in A Night with Johnny Stompanato, and Jo in Little Women, for BBC Radio 4; and over 200 audiobooks to date. Laurence has also worked extensively in the games industry, best known for her roles as Joanna Dark in Perfect Dark Zero, and as Enasha and Gera in the recently released hit game Horizon: Zero Dawn from Sony. Laurence is a Video Games Ambassador for UKIE, current Chair of Equity’s Screen and New Media Committee, and has been made a full member of BAFTA in recognition of her work in the industry. In her spare time she immerses herself in language study, currently perfecting her Farsi, and Latin dance, having danced with a Venezuelan dance troupe for several years. A tech nerd, she also holds an MSc in computer science and a diploma in technical and specialised translation.
